Work on this project coincides and is inspired with the 30thAnniversary ofThe Rijeka-Kawasaki Friendship Agreement. History and mythology were some of the elements in the attempt to analyse and compare two cultures, Croatian and Japanese. Through differences and similarities we have looked for common human and omnipresent divine qualities in both of them. Furthermore, mythology as something ideal and collective we have opposed to modernity with all its imperfections and concrete stories – “portraits” pulled out from the Japanese and Croatian modern societies. Because performing artists in this project studied together Dramatic Corporal Mime, it serves them as a common ground and the language through which they express themselves.
We have chosenTrsat legend which talks about mysterious sacred house which had appeared on the Trsat hill in 13thcentury and the Japanese myth of Amaterasu - the Japanese Shinto Sun goddess, ruler of the Plain of Heaven, whose name means 'she who shines in the heavens'.
* Trsat is a very old (ancient) part of Rijeka, with very rich cultural and historic value.
**Trsat Dragon is a zoomorphic mythical creature and a heraldic decoration on the coat of arms of the Nugent family. It is a symbol of Rijeka.
この企画はクロアチアのリエカ市、日本の川崎市の姉妹都市提携３０周年記念での公演を目的に進められてきました。
物語は現代から人々の生活、過去（双方の国の神話）へとさかのぼっていきます。１３世紀頃のクロアチアのTrsatの丘に纏わる伝説と、天照大神（あまてらすおおみかみ）の物語が、皆さんの目にどのように映るでしょうか？
天照大神… 古事記（712年）に登場する太陽の神。すべての光を象徴する神。
Trsat…リエカ市の歴史深い地。
Trsat Dragon… Trsatに纏わる伝説の竜。Nugent家の肩章、リエカ市のシンボル。
この作品の出演者はエティエンヌ・ドゥクルー（Etienne Decroux1898～1991）システムのコーポリアル・マイムを共に学び、ロンドンを中心に公演活動を続けてきました。異なる言語、異なる国、文化、歴史を共有した表現方法で一つの作品と成し、クロアチア・リエカ市で公表できたことが今回の最大の喜びです。
