Distinctivness of our work
Today’s work of The Rubicon Theatre is based on the principles of established theories such as the theory of relativity, quantum physics and theory of chaos in particular, applied on the theatre directing and dramaturgy.
The theory of chaos represents scientific revolution at the end of the 20th century. It opens up new scope and answers not only to the physical questions but a lot of general questions (eg. changes in the stock market, population of mosquitoes, the spreading of the flu epidemic, the determinism of all events, free will, evolution, immunological characteristics of organisms, social and political revolutions, the importance of the individual in the course of history, etc). This new theory connects completely diverse occurrences or events, eg. whirlpools of water with the complicated rhythms of the human heart, the shape of a snowflake with the cotton prices, the shape of fire with the shape of a leaf, the generation of the human DNA, etc.
The theory of chaos explains even the nature of human thought and creativity.
As chaos is the generator of nature as a whole, it influences the making of the work of art which is base of our research and work.
In thoughts about theatre the effort is in capturing the show in as natural a state as possible. The search is aimed at natural, organic shows.
Nature is such that it is generated by chaos but so is every human construct, theatre included. Classic drama and direction, in the same way as is Euclidian geometrics in mathematics, is a step removed from the natural. To notice the process of creation and combination of the universal, natural (physical) laws and to create organic shows is the aim of this theatre productions.
