Hydrogen atom has a single proton in its nucleus and a single electron. If we have two such formations in space we have two hydrogen atoms. But bonded together those two protons and two electrons form helium atom. So, as a result, we have entirely different qualities made of completely identical building blocks. The question is, how is it possible that adding the same, fundamental, elementary, quantum components results in something completely different?

Four identical particles are completely different if we add or deduct one of them.

This question provokes our approach to the project Synergy 1. The principle of deconstructing Shakespeare’s text is applied on a deconstruction of the performances Romeo and Ophelia… and the performance InterNetWork. Deconstructed performances are going to be put together and reconstructed in one performance Synergy 1. The scenes from one performance will be put into the setting (light design or music) of another, or the  scenes from different performances will be played at the same time.

Reconstruction will happen not only on the level of the performers/actors but also of music, light design and costumes. Dramatic situations from other performances put together in one performance will result in completely new situations and characterizations and will try to show the power and diversity of theatrical act.

Performance Synergy 1 changes completely the perception and the precept of the performances InterNetwork and Romeo and Opfelia, Juliet and Hamlet, ...

All three shows make an integral whole. Synergy 1 is a new level in theatre research which has been conducted by The Rubikon Theatre for almost 15 years.

 With this project Rubikon is going deep into combining science and theatre, or to put it into other words it cherishes experiment as an important component of the creative process.
